  • Lake Township use Tan PAYT bags

Bellefontaine

The City of Bellefontaine has a well established PAYT (pay-as-you-throw) trash collection service combined with service curbside recycling.

Republic Waste Services collects both trash and recycling materials. Recycling is delivered to the Logan County Solid Waste District processing facility at 1100 S. Detroit St. in Bellefontaine.

Guidelines

All residents must participate in the PAYT trash collection program. Recycling participation is voluntary.

7:00 AM Curbside Deadline.  Trash and recycle materials are to be at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on collection day.

Regulation Trash Cans. Trash must be contained in regulation trash can(s) with authorizing sticker(s) attached, or in a trash totter, or in blue PAYT trash bags.

Excess trash. If more trash is generated in any week than can be contained in authorized cans, it must be disposed of in blue PAYT bags.

  • Blue PAYT bags can be purchased from various locations. Residents have numerous options for trash services.
Bulk Item Disposal.

Lounge chairs, mattresses, appliances, etc. can be disposed of at the curbside by purchasing a Bulk Item tag from the Bellefontaine Utility Office and attaching the tag to the item.

  • Bulk item tags cost vary depending on the item size.
  • Call 592-3561 for detailed information.
Need a Recycling Bin?

A recycling bin can be picked up at the Bellefontaine Utility Office. Each residence should ideally have two of these:

  • one for paper products
  • one for all other recyclable materials.

Violations, such as placing trash at the curbside in black or white plastic bags, subjects the resident to a citation to Court with fines levied up to a $500 maximum.
